Defamation

Cases of defamation, slander and libel have become more common in Hong Kong nowadays. This may be due to the advances in information technology in recent years. It becomes very easy for a wrongdoer to “publish” a defamatory remark or allegation against another party through the internet and cell phone applications such as whatsapp and sms. The spread of such defamatory remark sometimes reach phenomenal scale through successive hyperlinks and quoting. It is therefore advisable for the parties involved to seek professional legal advice before making a sensitive statement or remark or upon discovering that he or she is a victim of such. Our firm has been handling defamation cases since mid-1990s and has acquired considerable experience dealing with the same. We provide the full range of related service to our clients in defamation cases. Our Mr. Danny Yu is well-read in psychology and has been awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology by the University of Hong Kong in 2003. Mr. Yu applies his knowledge and training in psychology in support of his legal knowledge and training to facilitate dispute resolution and when assisting clients in negotiation with other parties.

Accident Claim

In a busy and traffic congested city like Hong Kong accidents are bound to occur. Injuries and death occurring as a result of accidents caused by negligence or reckless conduct may in turn give rise to claim for damages. As the time limit for bringing legal action in case of a personal injury claim is only three years from the date of the accident (as opposed to the usual six years limit generally applicable to most other civil claims), it is important to seek legal and medical advice as soon as practicable after an accident causing injury or even, death. Another reason for taking prompt action is the need to gather the evidence in support of the claim. With each passing day the chance of getting reliable evidence will diminish. Our firm provides comprehensive services to our clients involved accident claim cases either as the victim or the paying party. We will be glad to assist in providing legal opinion on the merits of potential claims and different aspects of a damage claim arising from an accident, for instance, in the assessment of damage for “PSLA”, namely, compensation for pain, suffering and loss of amenities.

Medical Malpractice

The advance of medical science improves life generally. However, in some unfortunate situations, the proliferation of medical or quasi medical services has been accompanied by professional negligence by act or omission on the part of medical practitioner or paramedic or otherwise by service which falls beneath the standard of practice acceptable or prevalent in the medical community. Such situation gives rise to substantial and justifiable claim for compensation. With better educated and informed patients, the number of medical malpractice suit is definitely on the rise in Hong Kong. Our firm offers comprehensive legal service to any client who is involved in a medical malpractice suit. Communication with the expert witnesses and negotiation with professional liability insurers are very important aspects of medical malpractice suit. This is an area of practice in which our Mr. Danny Yu’s considerable experience in legal practice and his special training in psychology may come into play and make a difference for the better for our client. Mr. Yu is well-read in psychology and has been awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology by the University of Hong Kong in 2003. Mr. Yu applies his knowledge and training in psychology in support of his legal knowledge and training to facilitate dispute resolution and when assisting clients in negotiation with other parties.
